Introducing: Callum Armstrong, Senior Chartered Surveyor
1. How has your career developed with Bradley Hall?
I joined Bradley Hall in 2017 on a year’s placement with the Durham agency team as part of my university degree. I then returned to Bradley Hall in 2019 as a Graduate Surveyor in the Land, Development & New Homes team. I achieved Chartered status with the RICS with the firm in 2021 and also became an RICS Registered Valuer. I have also recently been promoted to the position of Senior Chartered Surveyor in 2023.
2. What does it take to make a good, chartered surveyor in the Land, Development and New Homes team?
To be a good Chartered Surveyor within the Land, Development & New Homes team, I would say you need to be proactive, you need to be able to think outside of the box, you need to be resilient and versatile.
3. What’s a common myth about working in the land department?
When people think about land surveyors, I think they often just assume I’m in a field or on site all day, but the department is actually quite a technical one to be part of.
4. Who or where do you draw professional inspiration from?
John Smit (Former Springbok Captain) - Very resilient to any situation.
Richard Branson is definitely another one, an incredibly ambitious man.
5. What advice would you give to your younger self?
To always abide by the core values of trust and doing the right thing. Establish weaknesses and put in place measures to mitigate them. Then focus on your strengths and to always be accountable.
