AN ORNATE Sunderland building steeped in history and boasting its own entrance tower and turrets has been put up for sale.
The owners of Langham Tower have put the Grade II-listed building on the market with Bradley Hall for a guide price of £1.25million.
The listing follows the granting of planning consent by Sunderland City Council to turn the ground and first floor of the one-time residence turned school building into a restaurant/ bar with associated function rooms, which will lend itself to being a stunning wedding reception and events venue.
Built by William Milburn circa 1890, the stunning turreted building was originally designed as a private home for William Adamson, the son of a shipbuilding magnate.
The property was then rented by the Vaux family before being transformed into a college and school up until it was purchased by another local family - the Gartlands - in 2016.
Under the family’s stewardship, the building has since been lovingly transformed into a multi-purpose venue with a bar and lounge, outside bar with log fired pizza oven, multiple function rooms and a piano room.
However, the family are now looking to move on to pastures new and having secured permission to transform two of its floors into a restaurant with function rooms, they are actively seeking a new owner to write their name into the building’s history book.
