NEW LEASE OF LIFE FOR BEADNELL TOWERS

Created 11th June 2019

Beadnell Towers in Northumberland, has been given a £3M refurbishment to turn the former 10 bed hotel into an 18-bedroomed destination venue, consisting of hotel, kitchen, bar and terrace.

The venue, which has taken over 18 months to complete, now boasts 18 individually designed bedrooms, a modern open kitchen, a spacious bar area, as well as a British-inspired menu. The Bar and kitchen are open from breakfast onwards, seven days a week.

A firm favourite for both visitors to the North East and those more local, Beadnell is a destination that appeals to many, with glorious beaches on its doorstep and its proximity to the historical sites of Bamburgh, the Farne Islands and Dunstanburgh. As well as its location in the walkers’ paradise that is the beautiful Northumberland countryside, there is an abundance of water sports available in Beadnell and nearby Seahouses, all of which helps put this family and dog-friendly destination firmly on the map.

This transformation provided opportunities for many of the businesses and individuals in the area, with the involvement of the regions’ architects, builders, solicitors, bankers, and other local tradespeople in the process of creating this stunning stand-alone venue. It has also provided significant local employment, with 30 staff at the moment, but with demand having already been extremely high to try out the venue, this figure is expected to reach 40 by the end of June.

Denis Frucot, general manager of the venue told us why this has been such a long transition, but a labour of love: “As it is a Listed Building, the renovations have had to be in keeping with its historical heritage. In the process of the renovations we uncovered some amazing finds; we were pleasantly surprised to see that underneath the plastered walls and ceilings, there was some beautiful authentic stonework and timbers which our designer, Matt Hulme of Dynargh Design built into his vision. We’ve now left these uncovered, so everyone can enjoy the stunning workmanship that went into the original venue.”

A VIP event was held last weekend to mark the official launch of the hotel and the end of the 18-month rejuvenation period. Peter Bartley, director at Bradley Hall, assisted in the acquisition. He said: “As a firm, Bradley Hall is dedicated to Northumberland, its local people and businesses, so we are delighted to have assisted in the acquisition of the Beadnell Towers Hotel. The project will support the important local tourism sector, jobs for local people and underpins the exciting activity in Northumberland - whilst also supporting the fact that the local economy is thriving.”

Frucot concluded: “We are delighted it looks so stunning – everyone we’ve shown around so far has been absolutely blown away by the design and the beautiful fixtures and fittings. Many people can remember what it looked like before, so it’s great that these changes have been so warmly welcomed. I am absolutely delighted to be involved in this wonderful venture. The hotel has been renovated to such a high standard, with 18 unique rooms, incorporating many of the original features of the building, but with added inspirational elements. Everything has been thoughtfully chosen to provide our guests with a luxurious experience, with comfort and a welcoming atmosphere, whether you’re a local, a visitor to the area or simply passing through.”
